How to pack for an international move in a week

Most people think that it takes ages to pack for an international move. It is convenient to do this if you have plenty of time on your hands, but this does not necessarily mean that it is impossible to pack for an international move in one week. There is no reason to stress out since you gain nothing from stress. You will only make more mistakes. Take a deep breath, count to ten and take action. This article will show you how to ensure you have a smooth packing process so you can move quickly and with ease.

Is it possible to pack and move your entire life to another country in a week?

Write down a packing checklist

The first step you need to take while doing your best to pack for an international move in a week is to get organized. If you do everything randomly and without a good plan you will stress out very quickly. As we already mentioned, stress does not help you at all. If you want to avoid this problem and get reorganized quickly you should write down a packing checklist. This simple trick will ensure you remember all the important tasks you have to do to pack your home. This trick can also help you avoid procrastination. If you place your checklist somewhere you can always see it, you will have a constant reminder you need to take action.

Get packing supplies to pack for an international move in a week

Before you start packing, you need to make sure you get plenty of packing supplies. You can’t pack for an international move if you have no packing supplies. The first and the most important type of packing supplies you need to get are the moving boxes. These are essential. You can simply buy them, but this is not efficient at all, since there are places you can get them for free. Visit any type of store – most will give away boxes they no longer need. You should also ask your friends or family if they have some boxes lying around. This is especially effective if you know someone who moves around often. It is a good idea to get a few boxes more than you think you need. This way, you will not run out of boxes in the middle of packing.

Be extra careful with your fragile items.

Boxes are not the only type of packing supplies you need. You also need to get a lot of tape. You need to make sure the boxes are sealed properly. This is why you have to get quality packing tape – you do not want the boxes to open during transfer. You also need to think about cushioning materials for your fragile items. You can buy many different types of cushioning materials, unfortunately: these are not as cheap as many people think.  If you want to save money and keep your fragile items in one piece, you should use old newspapers or old clothes. You can wrap your fragile items in these and you will have nothing to worry about.

Packing your home by room

When you ensure you have enough packing supplies, you need to start the actual packing process. Just randomly packing your home will be very complicated. So, in order to avoid this process, try packing room by room, this is one of the best packing tips. This will greatly simplify the whole process. You can start with the kitchen and then move on to the rest of the house. You can even assign a family member to each room. This is a great method when moving with kids. If they pack their own rooms, they will have a much easier time accepting the fact that they are moving to another home.

Label the boxes properly when you pack for an international move in a week

Another great way to speed up your packing process is to label the boxes. This simple trick will help you stay organized and keep track of all your things. If you know where everything is, you will have an easier time looking for a specific item you need. You do not have to overly complicate your labels. Simply write down the name of the room in which the box belongs. If you want to go one step further you can write down the type of items in the box. If thee box contains something fragile you need to label it as fragile. You and your Idaho movers need to know that a particular box requires extra care.

International moving is definitely one of the most complicated types of relocation.

Make essential boxes

While you pack for an international move in a week, you need to make sure you take care of the essential items. These are things like documents and everyday items you need. If you do not do this you will have to go through your boxes or even buy replacements while in transit. This is why you need to make an essential box for every family member. You do not need to pack too many items. Some clothes, some non-perishable foods, basic hygiene supplies. If you lose your documents you will not be able to replace them easily. This is why you need to make a box with documents, keep this box close to you at all times.

Packing is one of the most stressful parts of the whole relocation. Well, there is no reason for stressing out over this. If you stress out you will have a hard time and you will make many mistakes. Even if you have to pack for an international move in a week you need to stay calm and focused. This will help you relocate in no time.
